Overview
RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substance. RoHS certification is compliance to monitor the level of harmful substances in the product. It means that a product has been tested for 10 banned substances by an independent authority and that the tests confirmed levels of the substances below the RoHS threshold. If a product is RoHS-certified, this confirms that the proportion of hazardous, or difficult to dispose of substances is limited to the maximum allowed. Compliance with the RoHS Directive must be confirmed in the EU Declaration of Conformity.
RoHS certification can be applied with our support without any hassle. ICS Task will comply with the procedure with the authorities on your behalf.
Many electrical products and the entire electronics industry are affected. RoHS certificate full form of Restriction of Hazardous Substances. Original RoHS certification, also referred to as Directive 2002/95/EC, was originally developed in the European Union in 2002, restricting six hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. Starting July 1, 2006, all RoHS-compliant products must be sold on the EU market.
RoHS-recast or RoHS 2 is the name of the EU directive published in 2011 called Directive 2011/65/EU. In ROHS 2, a CE-marking directive has been added, making RoHS compliance a requirement for CE RoHS certification. As part of RoHS 2, additional compliance reporting requirements have also been added for Categories 8 and 9.
It is the responsibility of manufacturers to verify that their EEE conforms to the RoHS directive. To demonstrate compliance, they are required to complete a Declaration of Conformity which should be supported by a technical file.
RoHS Product Certification
Electric and electronic equipment manufacturers are directly accountable for their products’ compliance with the European Directive on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
This means that all products must be compliant with strict standards, provide comprehensive documentation, and be tested for lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) above the legal threshold. In order for their products to be distributed and sold in the EU, manufacturers, owners, retailers, and importers must ensure compliance.

What is RoHS certification?
In electrical and electronic equipment, RoHS certification means “Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances” in the “Hazardous Substances Directive”. RoHS status is enforced by the European Union Directive 2011/65. If a product is RoHS certification in India, this confirms that the proportion of hazardous, or difficult to dispose of substances is limited to the maximum allowed. Some of these substances include lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and cadmium. Electronic device manufacturers are required to use environmentally-friendly methods, such as unleaded soldering.
In an EU Declaration of Conformity, RoHS certification Pvt Ltd Directive compliance must be affirmed. Technical documentation is provided in accordance with DIN EN 50581.
Since 2011, manufacturers are only allowed to use products with CE FCC RoHS certification. Conformity of the product to EU Regulation 765/2008 and confirmation of its compliance with applicable requirements laid down in the Community harmonization legislation.
Certification of equipment for compliance with RoHS
Restriction of Hazardous Substances is an English acronym that stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances.
A requirement of the CE marking procedure is the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. A manufacturer or importer affixing the CE mark confirms that his electrical or electronic equipment (including the components) is free of hazardous materials in compliance with the RoHS certification Pvt. ltd Directive.
The term ‘electric and electronic equipment is used to describe devices that operate by using electric currents or electromagnetic fields with a voltage between 1 000 and 1500 volts for direct current or alternating current.
Among the RoHS directive’s restrictions in electrical and electronic equipment are those regarding lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBBs, and PBDEs. The RoHS 3 directive became effective on 22 July 2019 and prohibits the use of DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP in electrical and electronic equipment. A separate ‘open standard’ (category 11 in the RoHS Directive, as explained in Annex I) came into force simultaneously requiring all electrical and electronic equipment (apart from products not covered by the Directive) to comply with the RoHS Directive.
What is the RoHS certification logo?
The RoHS certification logo may be used on company letterheads and materials provided that the following conditions are met:
It is not permissible to use the ROHS symbols on stationary or in other media by a certified client unless the use is related in part or in whole to certifications endorsed by RoHS certification private limited.
This requirement has the greatest impact on customers whose companies have subsidiaries, divisions, departments, or offices, rather than the company as a whole. In order to prevent any misrepresentation of the scope of certification, clients are advised to use certification logos and marks with caution.
Any use of the symbol on products, packing, packaging, laboratory tests, calibration reports, certificates, or test reports from tests or in any other manner which may be interpreted as indicating conformity is forbidden.
Certified quality management systems are indicated by certification marks on products.
In general, the Mark may only be reproduced in a single color, which is unlimited, but should wherever possible conform to existing preprinted promotional materials, such as stationery, brochures, and letterheads.
In order to assert that the client has an accredited RoHS management system certification logo, the client can use any statement on the packaging material. In no case should the statement imply that the product, process or service is certified?
The statement shall include:
Identifiers like the client’s brand name
Certification of management systems
ROHS issued the certificate.
A client company can choose any combination of colors or any number of color combinations
RoHS certification procedure
For RoHS certification, as with other similar EU directives, it is the production company’s responsibility to compile the necessary documents.
If you are a small company with a single entity or factory, you may already be confident about your product’s compliance.
As electronics become increasingly sophisticated, it is more likely that you rely on overseas factories to manufacture the various components.
The following is what you will need to become RoHS certification requirements regardless of your company’s size:
Documentation
It is necessary to give a general description of your product.
There is a designated EEE category that your product falls into – Category 1 covers large household appliances, Category 3 is for computing and communications equipment, etc. Consider that your product could be exempted if it falls into a specific category and had a specified purpose.
Detailed technical documentation showing compliance of all materials at a homogenous level, as well as tools and packaging for adjustments.
Correlating documents with information about substances and their intended uses.
Your data is determined by a list of harmonized standards.
Documentation requirements may sound straightforward, but when you consider the details and components that make up a typical EEE product, it becomes difficult to comprehend. Every assembly should be analyzed in terms of its components. For example, a semiconductor package is composed of six homogenous parts, each of which requires detailed analysis.
